Butter alert

February 9, 2009

Blocks of delicious and dangerous dairy fat: Kilbirnie Pak’n’Save has Anchor for $2.98 500g. You can freeze butter. Just wrap the block in something airtight to prevent flavour contamination.

  1. How long can you keep it in the fridge for? Ours always seems to last a long time esp. if its wrapped in tinfoil.

  2. almost indefinitely? as long as it’s kept cool butter should be fine for ages.

it’s essentially just oils and fats, so… i think it doesn’t rot the same way as other foods like fresh fruit/veges or meats?

the main thing is that once you start using it, then finish it.
