Using common sense at Common Sense Organics

January 11, 2009

I buy all my legumes at Common Sense because their stock isn’t heat treated. They have bulk bins, but they also have nice little packages of the bulk stuff pre-weighed and labeled. I was a bit taken aback when I noticed today that the beans and lentils I was about to buy were several dollars per kilo cheaper at the bulk bin than in the packages…

  1. I love bulk buying and stashing away in the freezer or cupboard. I prefer it when my cupboards are full and I know that my shopping bill for next week will be much smaller because of it.

  2. they do some good deals there at commonsense. their bagged fresh herbs are probably a quarter the cost of the supermarket.

  3. I’m a big fan of having well-stocked cupboards, and bulk bins are the way to go for my large dried product needs. I live by the concept I should have enough food to feed myself for weeks should I fall and break my leg. Or enough to prepare a meal for 20 if they should descend upon my house
